Lady Gaga, Oprah and Justin Bieber Top Celebrity 100 List

Lady Gaga is now Queen Gaga.

The “Monster” pop star dethroned talk show host Oprah Winfrey as the world’s most powerful celebrity on this year’s Forbes’ “Celebrity 100” list.

Although her $90 million in earnings in 2010 did not quite compare to Oprah’s $290 million, the 25-year-old poker-faced superstar soared to the top spot through her skilled use of social media – Gaga has 32 million Facebook fans and 10 million Twitter followers.

And all those loyal fans, also known as Little Monsters, are a huge customer base for many of the products Gaga designs or features in her elaborate music videos. They have flocked to the stores to buy MAC makeup and Virgin Mobile phones, and Gaga’s personally designed triangular “heartbeats” headphones quickly became so popular that they are currently out of stock on their webpage.

The title track from Gaga’s latest album “Born This Way” even made iTunes history, as it was downloaded one million times in just five days.

Even Oprah, whose 25-season-long talk show ends next Wednesday, isn’t that social media savvy. Although she certainly has influence over her many viewers and fans, the talk show queen has just under 6 million Facebook fans and the same number of Twitter followers. Combining the numbers from the two social media sites, that’s 30 million less than Lady Gaga.

But Oprah didn’t fall that far behind on the Forbes list.

She ranked second overall, thanks to her massive earnings from last year and her powerful television presence. Most of those earnings come from her show, and the many stars she has created, including Rachael Ray, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil, who placed 18th on the list.

This was only the third time in seven years that Oprah has had to give up her throne. Although she has managed to work her way back up to the top each time, Oprah may have trouble winning back the crown next year.

The final season of her popular show is wrapping up, and Oprah will be concentrating all of her efforts on the struggling Oprah Winfrey Network, Forbes reported.

And she also has competition from young rising stars, one of who debuted on the top end of the list this year. Justin Bieber, who cut off his famous long locks in February and sold them for $40,668 in a charity auction on Ebay, earned $53 million last year, gaining him third place.

According to Forbes, his breakout song, “Baby” has been viewed on YouTube a record 500 million times, and the Biebs’ has 27 million Facebook fans and almost 9 million Twitter followers. Although he’s not quite at Gaga status yet, the 17-year-old singer has come a long way since he first hit the charts in 2010.

Bieber’s concerts bring in about $600,000 a night in ticket sales and his movie “Never Say Never” made more than $100 million at the global box office.

Bieber is followed closely by U2, a much more established band that has released hit songs since they first appeared on the music scene in 1983. Though their popularity has certainly weaned over the past few decades, their 360 Tour had already grossed more money than the Rolling Stones’ Bigger Bang Tour by this April.

And, by the time their tour ends this summer, it is expected to have brought in $700 million in ticket sales – that’s $146 million more than the Rolling Stones’, Forbes reported.

Lady Gaga dedicates song to royal couple

Pop superstar Lady Gaga dedicated a Nat King Cole cover to Prince William and Kate Middleton during her performance at Radio 1’s Big Weekend. The 25-year-old sang a rendition of Orange Coloured Sky in honour of the royal couple during her hour-long set in Carlisle yesterday. Before singing the tune, Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, said: “I was wishing I was at the royal wedding.” The Just Dance hitmaker, who arrived 30 minutes late for her performance, emerged from a coffin before she played five songs from her new album Born This Way.

Lady Gaga swaps music for media, edits Metro paper

Flamboyant pop star Lady Gaga ditched the music and switched to the media on Monday with a stint as a guest editor at the London headquarters of the global free newspaper network Metro.

Widely regarded as the world’s biggest pop star, the 25-year-old New Yorker has also been busy promoting her second full-length studio album “Born This Way” which is available in stores from May 23.

Gaga arrived at Metro’s offices wearing pink hair in a beehive style, black high heels, fishnet stockings and a black brassiere-like top.

“I’m sorry if my business attire is a little different” she joked as she shook hands with staff.

Gaga took charge of the morning editorial meeting, offering her opinion on a range of topics from bullying to the Japan earthquake to who her heroes are.

She immediately set out her vision for the paper in her role as guest editor for the day, touching on themes she has already mentioned as part of her mission as an entertainer.

“I feel so privileged I get to make music every day,” she told staff. “If you have revolutionary potential you have a moral obligation to make the world a better place.”

Her new record is the follow-up to her 2008 debut album “The Fame,” which went on to sell more than 12 million copies and topped the charts. An extended play release “The Fame Monster” came out the following year.

Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, has a huge and famously devoted fanbase around the world whom she calls her “little monsters.”

In turn she refers to herself as “Mother Monster” whose every public appearance is a piece of performance art and outlandish fashion statement rolled into one, turning her into a cultural phenomenon as much as a musician.

“I really appreciate the opportunity and it’s a wonderful chance for me to show the world that little monsters are not just a fan thing, but exist outside the music world altogether,” Gaga said of her editing activities at Metro.

Gaga’s more notorious outfits to date have included a raw meat dress she wore to the MTV Video Music Awards last year and her arrival at the Grammy Awards in February encased in a giant egg.

“I’m half living my life between reality and fantasy at all times,” the “Just Dance” and “Poker Face” singer recently told the Guardian newspaper. “It’s best not to ask questions and just enjoy.”

It is not all just about enjoyment, however, and music writers and commentators who have interviewed the singer note a messianic dimension to her ambition which appears to go beyond merely selling records.

Her own online biography concludes: “And, now, I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at a time,” albeit with “a wink in her eye.”

It is not all plain sailing for the multi-Grammy Award winner, however.

The huge impact of The Fame means the pressure is on for Born This Way to match that commercial and critical success.

Religious groups accuse her of blasphemy, there was dissent in the ranks of her legions of fans over the cover art to Born This Way and she has reacted angrily to suggestions that the first single from the new record was copied from Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself.”

Lady Gaga is miserably pathetic in wedding dress

Lady Gaga may be successful in her profession but when it comes to love life, she is a complete failure. She is single again after parting ways with her boyfriend heavy metal drummer Luc Carl. And she said she is miserably pathetic in wedding dress.

Just on the heels of breaking up with her longtime boyfriend, Lady Gaga appeared on Britain’s ‘The Graham Norton Show’ in wedding dress. She revealed that she doesn’t have to date. “I’m miserably pathetic in my wedding dress. I haven’t been on any dates recently because I have been working so hard and I get very bored very quickly with men. I guess they would get freaked out by this wedding dress,” she told the host of show.

Well, let’s hope Lady Gaga finds a date soon, now that she declared to the world that she is single and ready to mingle!

Lady Gaga Almost Shows Off Her Little Monsters In Sheer Dress

Consider this NSFW, please! It’s just another day and another outlandish outfit for Lady Gaga, but Mexico City got more of an eyeful than they bargained for! At a photo call held to promote Born This Way, Gaga rolled in wearing a super-sheer, skin-tight, electric blue dress with only two pieces of tape preserving her … modesty. All the attention may have gone to her torso — which you can view in all its glory in out gallery below — but if anyone managed to drag their eyes away, they’d see that she had the most insane pair of platform shoes on. The craziest she’s ever worn (which is saying a lot)! We’re stumped as to how she could possibly walk in those? And with regards to that outfit, this was just two of her “gagas.” Way better than what Gaga pulled out in Harpers Bazaar, right?
