Bieber, Answer Your Phone. It’s The President.

What do Justin Bieber and President Barack Obama have in common? They’re probably the two most famous people on earth, for one thing. And they’ve both received letters from an heretofore unknown New Jersey high school student named Payton Hall. The only difference is that Payton has actually met the President. And with his help, she’ll soon get to meet the Biebs.

It all started when President Obama laid a wreath at the World Trade Center site on Thursday and lingered to speak with people who had lost family members in 9/11. Payton Hall was one of those people. Her father, Glen James Wall, was killed in the 9/11 attack. Payton had written a letter to the President about how 9/11 had affected her life, including “what it’s like to have to live without a father.”

Upon meeting the Commander-in-Chief, however, Payton admitted that she had originally written the letter to Justin Bieber. Instead of mailing it, she decided to revise it and send it to the president.

“I wrote to Obama about how Justin Bieber inspired me to tell my story,” Payton explained.

Apparently, good things come to those who wait and “belieb.” After listening to Payton’s story, President Obama promised to “pull some strings” and arrange for Payton to meet the teen dream the next time he’s in New York.

Well, there you have it. Kudos to President Obama.

What else is there to say? Except Never Say Never.

CSI Star: Justin Bieber Is a Brat

Pop star Justin Bieber may have millions of screaming fans, but CSI star Marg Helgenberger apparently isn’t one of them. “I probably shouldn’t say this, but he was kind of a brat,” Helgenberger told French radio on Friday. Bieber starred in a multi-episode arc on the long-running CBS procedural, and while Helgenberger says the singer was very nice to her during their one scene together, she also reveals that Bieber punched a cake and locked a producer in his closet, reports the New York Daily News. Click to read her thoughts on Justin Bieber’s acting skills.

The Bieber fired back at the swipe via Twitter, notes Perez Hilton: ” it’s kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to wish them luck and be kind.

Kym Johnson Hospitalized After Dancing With the Stars Rehearsal Fall

Dancing With the Stars pro Kym Johnson was taken via ambulance to an L.A. area hospital this afternoon after injuring her leg during rehearsals.

The Aussie, who’s partnered with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward, “was taken to hospital for precautionary measures,” her rep says.

Kym was hospitalized “to assure she is okay,” the rep adds, and she is.

There was no word yet on whether Johnson’s injury will impact the couple’s ability to perform three routines in the semifinals on Monday night.

Just four couples remain: Kym and Hines, Ralph Macchio and Karina Smirnoff, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas, and Kristie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Last week, Macchio hobbled through his waltz and cha cha routines because of a ruptured cyst behind his knee, but was saved by the voters.

If Kym, whose injury is unclear, is unable to go, Hines would likely be paired with one of the other DWTS pros who has already been eliminated.

Johnson is listed as day-to-day. Get well soon, girl!

Brangelina Sued By Former Employee For Unfair Dismissal

Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are being sued by a former employee at their French estate after she was fired while on a sick leave.

The woman, who has remained anonymous due to confidentiality clauses in the contract she signed before being employed, worked as a secretary at their Miraval chateau in the South of France.

She was dismissed by a manager at the estate and is now seeking 80,000 euros in compensation for unfair dismissal, reported Femalefirst.

“It’s a drop in the ocean for these stars. She has nothing against them personally and says she was always treated well. But they did not step in to prevent her being dismissed,” said her lawyer Emmanuel Ludot. Ludot hopes that the couple who has been famous for their reputation for humanitaian causes will live up to their image.

“Mr Brad Pitt, who is also famous for his charity work and adoption of children, should understand that my client needs compensation as soon as possible, and that she’s not asking for millions, just a fair amount for unfair dismissal. We hope they will both be faithful to their reputation for humanitarian causes,” Ludot said.

The lawyer said he has deliberately announced the matter now because the couple with their kids are currently in France for the annual Cannes film festival

Scores killed as Pakistani Taliban ‘avenges’ Osama bin Laden killing

‘I heard someone shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ [Arabic for ‘God is great’] and then I heard a huge blast’

SHABQADAR, Pakistan — A pair of suicide bombers attacked recruits leaving a paramilitary training center in Pakistan on Friday, killing 80 people in a strike that the Pakistani Taliban claimed it carried out to avenge the killing of Osama bin Laden.

The blasts in the northwest were a reminder of the savagery of al-Qaida-linked militants in Pakistan. They occurred even as the country faces international suspicion that elements within its security forces may have been harboring bin Laden, who was killed in a raid in Abbottabad, about a three hours’ drive from the scene of the bombing.

“We have done this to avenge the Abbottabad incident,” Ahsanullah Ahsan, a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, told The Associated Press in a phone call.

Mamata dislodges Left in a clean sweep, Buddha resigns

Kolkata: Finally it has happened. The world’s longest reigning democratically elected Communist government is on its way out. A demure battle hardened woman, Mamata Banerjee, has achieved her life’s biggest goal – unseating the Left Front from Writers’ Building in Kolkata.

With a slogan as connected to the roots as “Maa Mati Manush (Mother, Soil, People)”, Banerjee is on course to become the first non-Left chief minister of West Bengal since the Marxists took power in 1977 and kept winning election after election.

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee tendered his resignation to Goveror MK Narayanan at 1.15 pm on Friday. He lost his seat and is only the second chief minister in Bengal’s history to lose the assembly seat. Prafulla Sen, the third chief minister of Bengal, was the first to lose.

As the state was poised to get its first woman chief minister in Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee after about 64 years after independence, the defeat of the Left Front spanned almost the entire geographical map of West Bengal.

In trends for 294 seats in the 294-member Assembly, the Trinamool-led alliance was ahead in 220 seats.

The Left Front was ahead in only 68 seats.

Left’s candidates were losing even in erstwhile red citadels like Burdwan, Bankura and Purulia districts and in seats where the coalition had never been defeated since coming to power in 1977.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was ahead in one seat, while others in just five.

South Kolkata’s Harish Chatterjee Street, which houses Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee’s residence, is swarming with people wanting to wish their ‘Didi’ for uprooting the Left from their strongest bastion.

A visit to her neighbourhood helps explain her populist appeal. The firebrand Mamata lives with her mother in a modest house near Kalighat temple close to stream of sewage and crematorium.

Connected to the roots she has managed the unimaginable and Kalighat is rejoicing its most famous progeny.

Every nook and corner of the locality has been decorated with giant cardboard cutouts of the party chief and the party’s election symbol and crackers are being burst by ecstatic Trinamool supporters. The whole area is swarming with only one colour, green as it is the colour that has come to represent Trinamool in contrast to the red of the Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).

It’s not just Kalighat, the two-third majority implies that Bengal as a whole has decided its time for change. Even after seven consecutive election wins, the Communists stumbled, mainly due to a badly-implemented plan to seize farming land for industry to help the state’s moribund economy and provide manufacturing jobs.

Voters saw them as stuck in a time warp and their exasperation over red tape and Marxist sloganeering has grown to a point of no return.

Suicide attacks in Pakistan kill 80; Taliban claim bin Laden revenge

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility Friday for suicide attacks on a military training facility in the nation’s northwest, saying they were in retaliation for the killing of terror leader Osama bin Laden.

The twin suicide bombings killed at least 80 people, nearly all of them military recruits who had just completed their training, said Bashir Ahmad Bilour, a senior provincial minister. About 140 others were injured.

“Pakistani and the U.S. forces should be ready for more attacks,” said Ihsan Ullah Ihsan, a spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban, who accused the Pakistani military of telling the United States where bin Laden was.

“Osama was our great leader and the killers of Osama will have to pay its price,” he said.

The back to back explosions took place shortly after scores of recruits left the Shabqadar Fort, a training facility in the district of Charsadda, said Jahan Zeb Khan, a senior police officer.

The blood-soaked ground outside the training facility was littered with burned vehicles and broken glass.

The recruits had just completed a nine month training program.

The district of Charsadda borders Mohmand Agency, one of seven districts in Pakistan’s tribal region along the Afghan border.

Police suspect Friday’s attacks were in retaliation for ongoing military operations targeting militants in Mohmand.

Mohmand is believed to be a hideout for Taliban fighters and al Qaeda-linked militants fleeing last year’s military operation in the district of South Waziristan and ongoing U.S. drone strikes in North Waziristan.

The Pakistani army has carried out numerous ground and air operations in Mohmand but they haven’t been able to stamp out the militants.

Last December, around 150 militants ambushed six security checkpoints in Mohmand, killing 11 Pakistani soldiers, officials told CNN.

Earlier in December, a twin suicide attack targeting a government building in Mohmand killed at least 40 people.
